Mission Statement
The A. Philip Randolph Institute Western Region advances social, economic, and racial justice by empowering workers, strengthening communities, and expanding civic participation across the western United States. As a regional hub within the APRI network, we unite labor unions, community organizations, youth leaders, and public institutions to build collective power and create lasting change.
We champion workers’ rights and economic opportunity through education, training, and leadership development programs that prepare individuals for quality jobs, fair wages, and stable union careers.
We also strengthen democracy through year‑round voter engagement, civic education, and community mobilization. Our outreach actively centers on historically marginalized groups—including Black, Latino, Indigenous, immigrant, and low‑income workers—ensuring every community has a voice in the democratic process.
Beyond direct programming, we bridge labor and community partners by facilitating coalitions, supporting local chapters, and amplifying grassroots campaigns for fair housing, workplace equity, and youth leadership.
Guided by the legacy of A. Philip Randolph, we remain committed to uplifting working families and realizing his vision of a society where economic security, racial equality, and democratic participation are fundamental rights for all.
